SEWANEE PRAISES: Special Design Presentation to the St. Mark’s Community

The Roberson Project and its many partners invite everyone with roots in the St. Mark’s community to join us for the culminating event of the Sewanee Praises project on Thursday, December 5th at 5:30p.m. at the EQB Club. 

Students from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and Virginia Tech will present their final designs for a commemorative structure on the historic site of the Kennerly School. Built in 1949 as a segregated school and demolished in 2010, this site holds deep significance to Sewanee’s Black St. Mark’s community.

These final designs are the product of months of collaboration between architecture and design students, faculty, and members of the St. Mark’s community, reflecting a shared vision to honor the history of Sewanee’s African American neighborhoods.
